Our Summer 2026 Projects

£25,000 Investment

Thanks to the incredible support of our school community, the John Rankin PTFA is investing over £25,000 this summer into exciting improvements across the school. Every pound has been raised through previous fundraising events and is being reinvested to create inspiring spaces and resources that will benefit children for years to come.

Take a look at the projects we’re delivering and see how your support is making a real difference.

Outdoor Classroom

Our new outdoor classroom will provide a dedicated space for lessons beyond the four walls of the classroom. Designed for use by the whole school, it will support outdoor learning, group activities, storytelling and curriculum enrichment, giving every child the opportunity to learn, explore and be inspired in a natural environment.

Our Future Projects

With just six weeks over the summer holidays, we’re prioritising the larger projects that require groundworks, diggers and significant volunteer labour while the school is empty. However, this is only the beginning.

Our investment in John Rankin doesn’t stop in September. Below are the next phase of projects that we’ll continue to develop and deliver throughout the new academic year as we work towards creating even more inspiring spaces for our children.

Quiet Zone

We’re creating a dedicated Reading Area and Quiet Zone to give children a calm space to read, relax and recharge during the school day. Designed with sensory elements and engaging books and activities, it will provide a welcoming environment that supports wellbeing, encourages a love of reading and offers a peaceful retreat for pupils who need a quieter space.

Treehouse

We’re planning to create a magical treehouse within our Forest School, providing children with an exciting space to explore, imagine and learn. Designed to encourage adventurous play, storytelling and outdoor discovery, the treehouse will become a unique feature that inspires curiosity, builds confidence and helps children connect with nature.

Vegetable patches

Our vegetable patches are in need of a little TLC, and we’re planning to bring them back to life. By refreshing the beds, improving the growing areas and adding new planting opportunities, we’ll create an engaging space where children can learn about nature, healthy eating and the journey from seed to harvest through hands-on experiences.

Vision

SEND / ELSA Space

From September, we’ll be working closely with our new SENDCo and a dedicated parent working group to design and develop this exciting new space. Together, we’ll create a calm, supportive environment with sensory resources and purposeful activities that meets the needs of our pupils and helps every child feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Raise £30,000

We haven’t forgotten our long-term goal of creating a dedicated running track for the school. This remains one of our biggest ambitions, and thanks to your continued support, we have already earmarked £10,000 towards making it a reality. While it will take further fundraising to reach our target, every event and donation brings us one step closer to delivering a lasting legacy that will benefit generations of John Rankin pupils.
